Auto Insurance Conversations for Las Vegas Drivers
Auto insurance is more than a price on a screen. The useful conversation is about who drives the vehicle, how it is used, what you want the policy to protect against, and which limits and deductibles you are comfortable carrying. Eric James Insurance Agency helps Nevada drivers review available auto insurance options from our Las Vegas office.

Know what questions to ask before you choose or change auto coverage
Auto coverage can include different protections for liability, damage to your own vehicle and other risks. The exact coverage depends on the policy, limits, deductibles, eligibility and underwriting.

Three coverage words worth understanding
Policies vary, but these common terms describe different jobs within an auto policy. Understanding the distinction helps you ask better questions.
- Liability coverage addresses certain injuries or property damage for which an insured driver may be legally responsible, subject to policy terms and limits.
- Collision coverage generally addresses certain damage to an insured vehicle from a covered collision, subject to policy terms and deductible.
- Comprehensive coverage generally addresses certain covered non-collision losses, subject to policy terms and deductible.
Nevada Law
Nevada Minimum Requirements
The following information is provided for educational purposes. These minimums represent what Nevada law requires, not necessarily what is appropriate for every driver's situation.
Minimum motor-vehicle liability coverage: 25/50/20
Nevada's minimum liability limits are often written as 25/50/20:
- $25,000 bodily injury or death per person
- $50,000 bodily injury or death per accident
- $20,000 property damage per accident
Uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage
In Nevada, uninsured/underinsured motorist (UM/UIM) coverage is optional for the consumer. Insurers must offer it, subject to Nevada law, and the insured may reject it as permitted by law.
Educational information only — not coverage, legal or insurance advice. Coverage decisions depend on your situation, policy terms, eligibility and underwriting.

Questions that make an auto review more useful
- Who regularly drives each vehicle?
- Is the vehicle used for commuting, school, business activity, delivery or rideshare?
- Has anyone in the household recently started driving?
- Did you buy, sell, finance or pay off a vehicle?
- Have you moved, changed garaging location or changed how far you drive?
- Do your current liability limits and deductibles still reflect your goals and budget?

Household drivers and changing circumstances
Household driving patterns matter. A new teen driver, a family member returning home, a vehicle added for work or a change in who regularly operates a car can all be reasons to contact the agency. Do not assume an online quote has captured every fact that may affect eligibility, underwriting or coverage.

Cost matters — but compare more than the number
Premium is important, but a lower number does not automatically mean the policies are equivalent. Compare limits, deductibles, covered vehicles and drivers, optional coverages, exclusions and any applicable discounts or eligibility conditions. We will not promise that a particular customer will receive the lowest price or a specific percentage savings.

What to have ready when you call
- Driver names and basic driver information.
- Vehicle year, make, model and VIN if available.
- How each vehicle is used.
- Current insurance declarations if you are comparing an existing policy.
- Questions about limits, deductibles and optional coverages you want explained.
Frequently asked questions
Questions people commonly ask
Do I need collision and comprehensive coverage?
That depends on the vehicle, financing requirements, your risk tolerance and other facts. An agent can explain available options, but the decision should be based on your situation and policy terms.
Should I list every person who drives my car?
Regular drivers and household circumstances should be discussed with the agency so the application and policy information can be reviewed accurately.
Can you insure drivers in Henderson or North Las Vegas?
Our office is in Las Vegas. We can discuss whether we can assist Nevada customers in those communities based on licensing, product availability and individual circumstances; we do not claim separate branch offices there.
Can you guarantee a lower rate?
No. Rates, discounts, eligibility and underwriting depend on the customer and applicable rules. We can help compare policy details and available options.
